Good Boy Lead Sheet

I’ve been asked a couple of times if charts for my tunes are available so I thought I’d share them. Here is the lead sheet for my instrumental ‘Good Boy’. I wrote it after hearing my dear friend and mandolin virtuoso Joe K.Walsh play a break in which he opened the solo with the intro line from this tune. During the tour of the US that we were on at this time, Joe introduced me to the music of David Grisman, aka ‘Dawg’, I think this influenced not only the melody, particularly the B part but also caused me to have the tune from ‘How Much Is That Doggy In The Window’ going round in my head. You can hear it here – Good Boy

Ben Somers String Band New Album/September Tour

Very excited about the release of the new album, the whole experience of making it at Tonehouse in Paris with Jean-Etienne Loose was wonderful. The guys in the string band Marius, Evan and Dorian  truly made the music come alive and I’m newly inspired every time I listen to it. Along with the guys there are some guest appearances from the old man Steve Somers and Burning Salt‘s Hannah Hull.  The vocals were produced and recorded by my good friend and bandmate Bobby Williams and then the final magic was woven by Josh Clark at Get Real Audio. I’m looking at releasing in a couple of months and am currently programming our September tour. We’ll be at The Didmarton Festival September 2nd, The Bank in Eye on the 5th and Norwich Sept 6th. Details on my gigs page and more dates to follow.
Heres the title track from the album ‘Poor Stuart’ taken from our tour of Europe last Summer.

Here’s a video from our gig in Barcelona this summer. We’re on our way over to Paris to record the new album. We’ll be playing two gigs whilst out there. Wednesday 29th November at Lou Pascalou in Paris and on December 2nd we’ll be at La Maradreire in Gravigny, Normandy.
